We can settle for what comes our way, or we can go after what we want.

always have, and yet expect that a relationship, health, or job situation will change in precisely the way they want.

It’s easy to tell yourself that others must do the changing. You don’t have to do anything except sit back and wait. Your wish is your command.

The Funny Thing About Hell

Winston Churchill said, “When going through hell, keep going,” and he was right. Despair can be that hell – the feeling that life will always be as awful as it is right now,

Especially in our darkest, most bleak moments, we have to keep putting one foot in front of the other; it’s the only way to move through hell to where better times wait.

that nothing will ever change, and perhaps even that you don’t deserve any other kind of life. That’s the funny thing about hell, you can’t tell how big it is or how long the journey through it until that day when you can look back and realize it is now behind you.
