It takes courage to stand up for yourself, so how do you go about finding that courage?
It takes courage to seek what you need and when you do, you will grow and flourish.
Standing up for yourself takes a particular kind of courage that is different from the courage it takes to stand up for others. It can be easier to rescue others when they need help than to rescue yourself because you may find it hard to accept that your needs are just as important as anyone’s needs.
You’ve probably heard this before: Courage is not the absence of fear but the willingness to take action in spite of your fear.

I wrote those words a few weeks ago in a blog post called, “Where Lies Your Freedom.”
The decision to try something new requires the courage to go forward when the way forward is not clear.
Making a choice to live in a new way is only the first giant leap of faith in yourself. Making the changes necessary to realize that new way of life is the second giant leap of faith in yourself.
You need courage to change because it is not easy to give up what is comfortable and familiar, even when you know in your heart of hearts that what you’ve been doing isn’t working any longer and you can’t hide from that fact any more. Continue reading
You’re no doubt familiar with the cautionary tale about putting a frog in a pot of cold water and allowing it to slowly heat, so that the frog never realizes the water is too hot.
Sometimes you modify your attitude and actions in increments that are so small, you hardly notice them individually, yet over time, those changes take you far away from your true self.
Until at last, the water boils and the frog is dead.
