that are new to us. Discovery requires courage to embark on a journey to something unknown.

Certainly Christopher Columbus and his crew had courage. They had the courage to face whatever disease, disaster or even whatever manner of death might strike. They expected to suffer hardship, yet they were game for a good adventure, and willing to roll the dice for the promise of discovering something bigger than they already knew or could imagine.
