The First Step to Making the Change You Must Make

I wrote those words a few weeks ago in a blog post called, “Where Lies Your Freedom.”

The decision to try something new requires the courage to go forward when the way forward is not clear.

Making a choice to live in a new way is only the first giant leap of faith in yourself. Making the changes necessary to realize that new way of life is the second giant leap of faith in yourself.

You need courage to change because it is not easy to give up what is comfortable and familiar, even when you know in your heart of hearts that what you’ve been doing isn’t working any longer and you can’t hide from that fact any more. Continue reading

On Monday I wrote about how maintaining a strong sense of self requires time alone and how an intimate connection with yourself deserves the same urgent attention that you give to the needs of everyone else.

Saturday at the Farmer’s Market I watched a four-year-old girl anxiously and tearfully come up to her mother and reveal her freshly scraped elbow. The skin was raw and bloody, the kind of owie that an adult would simply shrug off. Without saying a word, the girl wrapped her arms around her mom.
