A month ago, In “Listening and Learning for Lent,” I talked about how my personal growth priority is focused listening to others and about the complex messages you
can hear. My time of focused listening is drawing to a close so I wanted to share with you one important thing about listening that I missed earlier.
I have learned to listen to the silence. The silence I refer to is the space between the conversations you have with others. It is also in the spaces in your life, the spaces that are filled with actions and those that are void.
Is your silence the silence of peace or of longing? Of clarity or confusion? Do you hear your dreams for the future or your nostalgia for the past?
Keep listening until you can hear what you need to hear. Be still and let what you need to hear come to you.
What do you hear in your silence?
Live Honest, Open and True
Sometimes, you can learn more from the silences in your life than from any words that are spoken to you. To know yourself, listen to the silences in your life.
