For People Who Want to Walk Their Talk

First, this is my 200th blog post and I want to tell you how much I appreciate you helping me reach this milestone.

When I started writing this blog, I decided to base it on my personal creed that you make the world a better place to live for yourself and others when you walk your talk – when your

Is your daily bread to align your thoughts, words and actions in ways that are Honest, Open and True?

thoughts, words and actions are aligned and congruent, and to talk about life’s most difficult subjects from my point of view that you can always communicate in ways that are Honest, Open and True, if you know how.

You also want to know why. So, here’s why: When you communicate in ways that are Honest, Open and True, your thoughts, words and actions automatically fall into alignment. You will always walk your talk because it is impossible to act in one way and talk in another and remain Honest, Open and True.

What it means to me to be Honest is that you and I need to acknowledge and embrace the bad as well as the good in life. You and I should not hide from the bad or pretend it is not there or that it does not matter.

What it means to me to be Open is that you and I need to be willing to hear the difficult things others have to say, things about which we’d rather not think, and even things with which we do not agree.

What it means to me to be True is that you and I need to live according to our individual values about the way we treat ourselves and how we allow others to treat us.

In my first blog post, nearly two years ago, I wrote about preparing to take my first hot air balloon ride and the things that I imagined and hoped to discover. I promised to share my journey as I explore what it means to live an Honest, Open and True life and how to reap the benefits of better relationships with others, and a better relationship with myself.

On this, my 200th blog post, I thought I’d share with you what I have learned.

Keeping my thoughts, words and actions aligned allows me to:

  • Relate to others on a deeper level.
  • Form close bonds with them because they trust me.
  • Find the right words for any situation.
  • Realize the right actions because they are apparent through logic as well as emotion.
  • Tap into my hidden strengths.
  • Have a sense of control over my future.
  • Discover the answers that are right for me.

No doubt there are other benefits that I haven’t realized yet are due to keeping my thoughts, words and actions aligned in ways that are Honest, Open and True, and probably some more that I will discover as I live my life. And, by no means am I successful in keeping my thoughts, words and actions aligned or in remaining Honest, Open and True all of the time. I’m humanly imperfect just like all of you.

What about you? Is your life aligned as well as it could be?

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,

Your thoughts become your words,

Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,

Your habits become your values,

Your values become your destiny.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

Life Is Honest, Open and True: Your thoughts, words and actions together create your world and your reputation. When they are aligned and are based on being Honest, Open and True, you will begin to have better conversations, better relationships and in general, a better and more rewarding and fulfilling life.
