It is just a myth that you need love.
You don’t need love because love is not a thing to get for yourself. Love is an action that you express to others by giving them the gift of the authentic you.
What you need is to give love.
When you engage in a real relationship with others by sharing the real you, you’re giving love.
Giving love means you express yourself to others authentically in your words and in your actions. Neither words nor actions are more important. They are equally important and what is most important is that your words and your actions be in harmony with each other.
Why You Don’t Need Love
Giving love can only happen when you already know how to love and accept yourself. The reason for this is simple: you can’t give to others what you yourself do not have. When you love and accept yourself – your personality, your strengths, your flaws, only then can you accept others just as they are, and recognize that they are a work in progress, just like you.
When you can give love through your words and actions, you’re more likely to:
- Stick with your friends through thick and thin.
- Be willing to accommodate their ways and needs.
- Move beyond your comfort zone.
- Be supportive in times of need and encouraging in times of dreams.
- Put their needs above your needs.
- Actively listen to them when they speak.
Giving love through words and actions builds and sustains your relationships with others. The strength of your relationships can be measured in part by how much love you give each other over time through words and actions.
